SECRETSOFT / APP SUPPORT

SimulatorBrowser support.

Start browsing, find a missing simulator, or get help directly from SecretSoft.

Getting started

  1. Have a simulator ready.

SimulatorBrowser requires macOS 14 or later. Install Xcode and the simulator runtime you use for development, then create or run a simulator in Xcode.

  2. Choose your simulator folder.

Open SimulatorBrowser and click Open Default Folder…. In the folder chooser, select the Devices folder and click Allow Access.

    ~/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices

If your simulators are stored elsewhere, use Choose Another Folder…. The app remembers your folder access for next time.

  3. Pick a device and an app.

Expand a simulator in the sidebar, then select an app or the Files entry. Open folders to browse their contents, use the preview button to inspect a selected file, or drag files in from Finder.

SimulatorBrowser’s first-launch screen, with Open Default Folder and Choose Another Folder options for granting access to simulator files.

Common questions

Why don’t I see any simulators?

Check that you selected the CoreSimulator Devices folder. Make sure you have a simulator created in Xcode, then use Reload simulators in the toolbar. In the Filter menu, turn off Hide Shutdown Simulators and Hide Empty Simulators if needed.

Why is an app or shared folder missing?

Make sure the app is installed on the selected simulator and has been launched. Check the Filter menu: turn off Hide Apple Apps or Only "On My iPhone" apps as needed. Turn on Show All Shared Groups to display other shared containers, then reload the simulators.

How do I restore folder access?

Use Choose Simulator Folder in the toolbar, select your Devices folder again, and click Allow Access. If the app reports that a folder doesn’t contain simulators, check that you selected Devices rather than its parent folder.

Where are files from “On My iPhone”?

Turn on Show Files app in the Filter menu and select the simulator’s Files entry to browse its local Files storage. Apps that share their own Documents folder can also appear separately in the sidebar.

How do I copy files in or see recent changes?

Navigate to the destination folder, then drag files from Finder into the file list. Use Refresh contents above the file list after your app or another tool changes a file. You can also open the current folder in Finder.

Does this browse a physical iPhone or iPad?

SimulatorBrowser works with simulator data stored on your Mac. It does not browse files on physical devices.

Why does the app ask for folder access?

SimulatorBrowser uses the macOS folder chooser to request permission to read and manage your simulator files. It saves that permission so it can reopen the folder when you next launch the app.
